While you are filling your planner full of plans for school lessons and activities, don’t forget to intentionally schedule down times too.  There will be days you and your children will just need to get out and enjoy the sun.  So, instead of bad weather days, try to include “Sun” days, “Fun” days. These days can lead to lots of fun and exploring. It gives your kids a chance to learn about some things outside that just may not be in a textbook. Hopefully these moments will refresh your homeschool when it starts to feel dull. Homeschooling isn’t only about academic education. It is also about learning life skills, building relationships, growing as a family, and our perso

Prayer for Our Nation

Prayer for Our Nation photo by Heather

Our nation has been through so much recently.

Not just the pandemic, but we have had a confusing election year, shortage of paper products and food, violence, and more.

In my neck of the woods, I have seen people go into panic mode over Covid-19. This is a time that our faith is being tested.

It is sad to see people who seem to have a strong relationship with the Lord easily swayed by fear. As Christians, we know we should fully trust God and not fear. However, we are also human, and that gets the best of us as we lose our focus on God and turn our focus on the issues of the world.

I have often wondered this year if the Lord is trying to get our attention.

I know what Satan uses to destroy, God will use it to bring good.

And we know that in all things, God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.  Romans 8:28 NIV

I believe we need to pray for our nation. I also think while praying for our nation it will help us to refocus on our relationship with God.

If my people, who are called by name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and will heal their land. 2 Chronicles 7:14 NIV

Please join me as I pray.

Dear Lord,

You are the Lord Almighty. You are worthy of my praise. I want to thank you for the provisions  in my life. Thank you for allowing my family and I to live in a country where we are free to worship you, go to church, carry Bibles, homeschool, and work where we choose. I ask your forgiveness of my sins and the sins of our nation. Forgive me for not always taking a stand for you and your kingdom when I should.

Our nation needs to be restored in many areas. Our nation needs revival and to be flooded with your Holy Spirit.  Please bring our country back to "One Nation Under God." Lord, I ask that you will be with the leaders of our nation. Give them your wisdom, your purity, your insight. Help them to have right motives. Give them your discernment. Help them to lead this nation by your word, by turning to you, and by your example. Help our leaders to lead with honesty and truth. Give them boldness when they need it. Lord, I pray they will grow in your word. I ask right now that if they do not know you as their Lord and Savior, they will come to know you this week. I pray the leaders of the nation will be drawn to you and your word. Let them see the need for you in their lives. I ask that you will not allow them to be given to pride, lust, murder, addictions, selfishness, greed, jealousy, envy, love of money, power, and treason. I pray they will live righteously according to your word. Where things are out of balance, I pray they will look to you to turn things around and make them balance. I pray our leaders will have unity with one another, then it will trickle down into the smallest of communities. Help us to work for your kingdom, for one another, and for our nation instead of being against each other. I pray people will love as you do instead of being lovers of themselves. I ask that you help us all turn to you Lord. Help us to humble ourselves and turn from wickedness. Please heal our nation from addictions, anxieties, depression, pride, racism, diseases, and more. I ask that you will grant peace to our borders and communities. Let us all live in unity with one another. Give us clean hands and pure hearts. Keep your hands on the president.  Give him pure and righteous thoughts. Protect him from the evil one. I ask that you cancel every appointment Satan has scheduled for our nation right now in Jesus name. Please break every stronghold on our nation.  Please allow us to keep the freedoms we have Lord. In Jesus name I pray, Amen.
