While you are filling your planner full of plans for school lessons and activities, don’t forget to intentionally schedule down times too.  There will be days you and your children will just need to get out and enjoy the sun.  So, instead of bad weather days, try to include “Sun” days, “Fun” days. These days can lead to lots of fun and exploring. It gives your kids a chance to learn about some things outside that just may not be in a textbook. Homeschooling Blues

Around this time of year I hear stories of moms who just feel like they can't keep homeschooling.

They are just ready to throw in the towel, and send the kids to public school.

They feel overwhelmed with the homeschooling blues.

Some may think they are not giving their kids enough.

They feel like the curriculum isn't working.

There are times they don't feel very productive.

Trying to homeschool, cook, clean, referee kids, carpool, run errands, shop for groceries, walk the dog, and so much more.

Some of us even have jobs outside the home or work from home.

And it seems so hard sometimes to get back to a normal routine after Christmas break. Even a month and a half later.

No wonder we feel stressed and tired quite often.

For those homeschool moms who feel they have the homeschool blues, know you are not alone.

There are other moms who feel the same.

I am one of those moms.

Sometimes I have to give myself a pep talk, and remember why we chose to homeschool in the first place.

Maybe you and your children just need a day to have fun. That is ok.

We all need to be relieved from stress, and have a little fun. After all God's word tells us, "A cheerful heart is good medicine, but a crushed spirit dries up the bones." Proverbs 17:22 NIV

We need to enjoy are children and not look at homeschooling as a chore. Instead, I believe we should look at it as a ministry.

Ministering to our children can give us joy. The joy we receive can give us new energy, as we take on a new perspective of how we look at homeschooling.

I want to encourage you today. If you feel like giving up, don't. You are the best teacher for your children.

No one else understands them or knows them like you do.

The truth is, we cannot teach them everything there is to know.  However, we can teach them to be life long learners.

Don't be too hard on yourself.

Give yourself grace.

Remember, you are not the only one who has bad days sometimes. We all do.

But I bet even on those bad days, if we all look closely, we can still see God's blessings.

Look for those blessings today. I am sure they will give you a cheerful heart and relieve a crushed spirit.
