While you are filling your planner full of plans for school lessons and activities, don’t forget to intentionally schedule down times too.  There will be days you and your children will just need to get out and enjoy the sun.  So, instead of bad weather days, try to include “Sun” days, “Fun” days. These days can lead to lots of fun and exploring. It gives your kids a chance to learn about some things outside that just may not be in a textbook. Using Essential Oils for Selfcare

Using Essential Oils Daily Photo by Heather

I started using essential oils about 8 or 9 years ago. When I first started using them I didn't have a clue about them.

I was introduced to them by a friend. She was telling me all the things lavender could be used for. I was amazed, but I was also skeptical about it.

This was new to me. I was wondering if they really work.

It just so happened my youngest kiddo had allergies, causing a little bit of a stuffy nose and watery eyes.

My friend had two bottles of lavender and she gave me one. I used it just like she told me by placing a drop on each foot and massaging it in, and it did help my daughter.

This lead me to start researching about other essential oils and there uses.

In my research, I learned they can be used for aches, anxiety, depression, colds, respiratory issues, to clean with, in skin care products, and much more.

Now, I am not an aromatherapist by any means, however I can say these have worked for my family and me. I would suggest if you haven't used them before check with a doctor or aromatherapist first because some oils may interact with some medications.

Also, most oils need a carrier oil before you apply it to your skin.

During cold and flu season I will run a diffuser with essential oils to clean the germs out of the air. I have also been doing this since covid-19 has been hanging around.

If it helps with cold and flu, it is definitely worth a shot to fight covid-19 with it.

I also like to use Vetiver and lavender to help me relax. I just put 2 drops of Vetiver and a couple drops of lavender in a diffuser, and let it run until I am good and relaxed or my diffuser automatically goes off.

Essential Oils for Allergies Photo by Heather

I like to use lemon, lavender, and eucalyptus when our allergies are triggered.

My younger daughter makes me an awesome sugar scrub for my hands and adds lavender to it. That sugar scrub relieves my dry cracked hands and the scent helps relieve stress.

I prefer to use all purpose cleaners that have essential oils in them to clean my home. It makes me feel better knowing I am using natural cleaners instead of products loaded with toxins.

Before I learned about essential oils, I bleached just about everything to kill germs. I think I hurt my sense of smell by doing that. I don't always have a good since of smell now.

That makes me wish I would have known about essential oils sooner, but it is ok because I know now. And I am still learning about their many uses.

I have collected a good supply over the years. I have tried different brands and have decided I like some better than others.

When you purchase essential oils, you want good quality. You don't want to waste your money. So, always make sure you buy good therapeutic essential oils.

I would love to hear what you use essential oils for, how they have helped you, and recipes you use.
